FORMAT
January 16, 2008 -
6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Introduction:
1) Support Systems: A
network of people that provide moral and practical support to an
individual (family, school, work, church, neighborhood, etc.). How
our support systems affect the things we do and how we feel.
2) Communication Skills:
The ability to understand, express
and effectively interact with others (verbal, non-verbal, body
language, written), and how these skills effect end results and
other people.
3) Values Clarification:
What is considered of worth,
excellence, use, and importance to us. How our ‘value system’
(the total of things we choose to be important and non-negotiable)
effects our decisions, actions and relationship with others.

8) Health
Awareness: How we
view exercise, eating habits, sleep, and general health
care/hygiene.
6) Emotion Identification:
Emotions, what they are, what we
feel inside and out, and how significant life events/interpersonal
interactions affect our emotions.
5) Self-Esteem/Self-Awareness:
Understanding that we exist as an
individual, separate from other people, and how self-awareness plays
an important role in our self-esteem. What your individual role is
within your support system, considering your values within that
support system.
4) Goal Setting:
Making specific, timed, objectives (things to get done) for making
personal progress.
14) Risk Management:
Going for it! The pros and cons of taking risks, based on our belief
systems and self-worth. What types of risks are/are not worth
taking.

7) Time
Management:
Organizing it, brain overload, procrastination, myths and balance.
10) Coping Skills:
How we choose to deal with outside events and relationships, and
things that influence our emotions and decision making process.
9) Problems Solving:
Decision making and the consequences
of, how it effects us short-term, long term and in our
relationships.
11, Assertion: How
males and females assertiveness looks, asking vs. assuming, how to
say “No” and mean it, and knowing the right to ‘change’.
12) Stress Management:
What is stress, what it looks like,
sweating the small stuff, and how stress can work FOR us.

- 8:00 p.m.
13) Anger
Management: Getting
acquainted with your anger; the styles of anger, stuffing it,
letting it escalate, and managing it. How to recognize things that
‘trigger’ us.
15) Money Management:
Why it is important; what happens if
we don’t, what happens if we do; getting rich quick myth, and hard
work paying off. How rich uncles and growing old should be
considered.
Completion
Celebration:
Overview of the entire
program, certificate of completion, celebration.
